History
(Havent really managed to dig up much about the history of this site
)
Ridley's Brewery is a defunct brewing company. It was founded in 1842, and was located in Hartford End, Essex. In August 2002 the company bought out the Tolly Cobbold brewery. Then, in 2005 Ridley's was bought by Greene King and dismantled. The executive chairman of Greene King is Nicholas Ridley, the great-great-grandson of Thomas Dixon Ridley, the founder of Ridley's.
Ridley's was officially T. D. Ridley & Sons Ltd. It started as a water mill at Hartford End and from that it developed a flour milling business in Chelmsford, two maltings, also in Chelmsford, and the brewery which stayed at Hartford End. In the early 1970s, Ridley's is recorded as having "just over 60" tied, mostly in central and north-west Essex.
My Explore
Decided to check this out after only see a couple of other threads on here about it. This was the last explore of the night and we arrived at around 1am and got stuck into a good 2 and a half hour explore in this place! Access is, ever so easy you'll easily be able to see where to get in, no climbing or anything needed, you can literally just walk straight into this site.
Most of the doors on the outside we tried were open, mostly the doors on the inside that are locked!
All in all this a a good explore to end the night on, plenty to look at and keep us interested. Baring mountain after mountain of bird goop, (Get ready to ruin your shoes) it was an enjoyable one!
