RNCF Holton Heath Labs, Dorset – April 2016
Wow, well that’s another HUGE backlog I have allowed to build up this year! He goes one from April 2016!!
I visited here with Mookster on the way back from visiting Linford Park Nursing Home in Hampshire. Was a nice day and this was a quick stop tour on the way back.
The place has been absolutely torn apart by the local wastes of life but there was some photogenic stuff so here goes!
Sometimes referred to as “The Cordite Factory”; The Labs were constructed during World War One to assist in the production of Cordite from the Factory across the road.
These labs were used for 'quality control' tests, ensuring that the materials produced were of a high standard. After World War 2, the production of Cordite at Holton Heath stopped and it was eventually passed over for Defence Research, who left the site in around 1997.
