Report - Robinhoods Bay culvert & Drain, June 14

On a family holiday in Yorkshire it would of been rude not to check out some local sites near where we were staying, so a quick look on here revels a nice little report by keitei on a culvert in Robinhoods Bay, with my two willing kids in toe waving torches around and screaming at the cave spiders it wasn't long till we was knee deep in water underground.

Entering where the Kings Beck river exits we headed in and walked the main culvert which takes about ten minutes, on the way back we noticed that it branches off underneath the streets of the village so decided to follow the drain as far as we could, at times the roof of the tunnel becomes pretty low and the water a bit deeper in places, but that was nothing compared to the spiders which lined the walls and the roof, i hate the things but not wanting to wimp out in front of my two kids we pushed on to the end

Not bad that you cant beat a good culvert and this looks a canny one. Loving the stone lined section especially.

Nothing beats a holiday explore..nice mix of stone, brick and rcp on show too

Ive been down this one before a few years ago with a friend. Never noticed the passages leading off. Will have to look closer next time!
