Royal Doulton Regent Works, Stoke-on-Trent - January 2022 (35mm Edition)
Reposting this as a lost thread from the great forum upgrade of 2022.
This former pottery along Longton’s Sutherland Road began life in 1892 and passed through a number of potters until it was extensively rebuilt in the mid-50’s by Ridgway Potteries Ltd, who in 1956 could claim to have the ‘largest individual bone china producing unit in the industry.’
After several mergers and buy-outs, the works operated as part of the Royal Doulton empire from 1973 until production ceased at this particular site in 2003.
Post-2003 the works were split up into different units with Studio Hinks Fine Bone China operating out of part of the site between 2005 and 2008.
Visited with @raisinwing and @dweeb on what I remember being a very windy day.
Pictures taken on Kodak Gold.
Fettling station
Small shuttle kiln
Some biscuit ware
Since our visit the building has been refurbished into individual studios and 'creative workspaces', etc. A happy ending for a change!
