HISTORY:
This entrance to the former Salford Central Police Headquarters looks out onto the public square which it shares with the former Central Fire Station. Designed by the architectural practice of Bradshaw, Gass & Hope this brick and Portland stone building was opened in 1957. Following amalgamation of forces within Greater Manchester in 1974 it continued to operate as the GMP Salford Division Headquarters until its closure. The building is basically just a shell but as the photos I've posted show it still has beauty!
The station shut in 2008
THE EXPLORE:
We had a look around and could only see windows and doors with metal and wood sheets over them until we found a way in!!
We entered the building and found ourselves inside the custody area. After having a look round and pretending to be prisoners we carried on our adventure.
Looking around there isnt much left and it's basically a shell. Some fire damage but all the floors are rock solid (made of concrete). Overall a decent explore, could easily spend a few hours inside!
Our trip was cut short though as contractors turned up adding more metal sheets to windows and we didn't fancy getting locked inside an abandoned police station!!!
