One of the four explorations me and Wilshure have completed on the bank holiday weekend. We kitted up in the car park and headed out to go to the tunnel.
The tunnel was formally used to link Scarborough and Whitby with Middlesbrough on a coastal route. Up until recently we were to believe that there was just the one tunnel but upon researching the history of the place there is a shorter one at Kettleness end.
Riddled with grafitti, air ventilation shfts and drainage tunnels this place is an interesting place to walk through if not a little scary at times (and also very wet inside).
Anyway we were set on trying lightpainting again for the second time and thanks to Wilshures kick ass camera skills and my eye for good photos we shall move on to them.....
Sandsend end with the restricting access wall (not)
Looking over the wall into the abyss
Looking back
First vent shaft
Looking up into the first shaft
Second air shaft
Torch beam through the vast amount of water pouring through the second air vent
One of the drainage tunnels (beams very unstable!!)
Collapsed north entrance of Sandsend tunnel (inside)
Collapsed north entrance of Sandsend tunnel (outside)
Kettleness south entrance
T and Wilsh silouetted
At this point we experimented with multi exposures
Me in multi exposures (great fun)
Me and Wilsh in multi exposure (incld. Wilsh's beer belly hanging out!!)
Lets go home...
Ketleness north entrance (inside)
Kettleness north entrance (outside)
Enjoy
Job Done
Peace
