Report - Share & Coulter public house, near Herne Bay, Kent August 2016

What was a lovely public house which was owned by Shepherd Neame up until 2015 and sold as a 'licensed going concern' in 2015 now completely wrecked in a matter of months. Solo explore first post on here. Did not venture upstairs as when you know the location of the pub it is not that safe, could have been the reason for its sudden demise. Was sold at auction in September 2015 with a guide price of £210K is Listed as Grade 2 and was built in the 1800's with possibly earlier origins.

Lucky you didn't get jumped by the pikeys yoy timed your visit well. They moved for a few weeks then returned. I often see them in and out the building. I didn't expect it to be so clean inside actually.

That's why I did not venture inside too much, I would have liked to have explored upstairs and had a look at the cellar area but as you say the Prospect Farm traveller camp is very active close by, I'm sure other 28DL explorers will have a look.

Blimy, that has gone down hill fast. Won't be long until that building is a total wreck, they've had all the leading off the roof - I'm surprised they haven't had the tiles!

Watch out for the very local travellers, they seem to be around there whenever I've gone past on quad bikes.

I know a couple of them so it's OK but if you didn't know them then there would be a problem lol

it dont look like that now - i went last year but had no issue but there now caravans living on-site apparently

The site was finally secured after intervention from Canterbury council as it is a listed building. Scaffolding was erected over the entire roof to try to prevent more damage, but it was too late as it was left to be deliberately trashed.
