This facility was built by the Nazis in 1933, initially disguised as a civilian facility. It then housed up to 1500 Luftwaffe cadets who used the nearby air field to train. It was then taken over by the Soviets in 1945, till 1994 (judging by the many bits of soviet graffiti).
The scale of this place is hard to comprehend, its absolutely massive. Although mostly stripped, there were lots of interesting touches to it, gas masks, uniforms and many impressive murals. It also has an enormous lecture theatre, which unfortunately I couldn't capture (The lesson of this trip- always bring a tripod!)
Unfortunately we were on a tight schedule so only really checked out the main building, but I'm sure theres much more to see here.
