First of all credit to @Dead-Drop for putting this up as a lead. Secondly, thanks to @Esoteric Eric and @Sheard for being lured out far too early in the most awful weather, and to @Sheard from coming back with me the next day too when I ran out of derping time.

So it was good to see in here and, in spite of its emptiness and lack of epic, it still gave some much needed vintage SheffBex feels. We also didn't get into the big building at the back - which was the rolling mill for Spartan Steel Alloys Ltd. Even though the whole site is due for renovation this bit appears to still be in use for unknown purposes. However, as it doesn't seem to have been used for steel since 2011 it's unlikely to contain much in the way of excitement. But watch this space. The rolling mill is mainly conspicuous because of the lovely logo that overlooks Pinfold Bridge that runs across Sheffield Canal.

For now, the offices - which form Spartan Works. These were used by Spartan Steel Alloys Ltd. until 2011, when the company were renamed and relocated to the Ecclesfield areas of the city. I found a letter detailing this move hidden away in a bottom drawer in one of the offices.

At that point it appears the offices space was let out to other companies - including, at one point, Pioneer Security Systems. However, it's likely that most of this space has actually sat empty since 2011.

Spartan Steel Alloys Ltd had multiple branches across the UK. The Birmingham site would produce the steel that then got transported to the Sheffield site for rolling. Before it was bought by SSA, the business was owned by J Shipman and Co.

There's a nice little thread of reflections on Sheffield Spartan Works here: Spartan steel works

Here are the planning documents for the proposed future use of the site:

Here's a recent article about the new development on the site: Attercliffe Waterside: Hundreds of new homes set to be approved - BBC News

The offices are set to be retained for local businesses as part of the development. Work has started on demolishing some of the works buildings, as you'll see in the pics.

Photos are, as usual, phone and carelessly developed film using really old developer.

The wallpaper here is clearly amazing.

Most of the offices are featureless and empty, but there's still some bits worth seeing. I dug around in a few places and found some old documents - a hand written receipt and a typed receipt from a cleaning firm from 1991.

Contrary to popular belief, I did not arrange them particular chairs :rofl Only wallpaper chair and the Wards tray which had fallen down the back of a cupboard somehow.

Excellent wallpaper and carpet combo though, 70s dream.

Was kind of hoping for more but then again id rather see a few empty offices with 60s wall paper than most stuff I've seen posted recently!! Glad people have made the effort to get some photos up!
