After hearing through word of mouth that developers recently pulled out of this area, a good friend of mine (Shimmy) and I decided to go take a look at this place and some other nearby sites. We were hoping to find a bit more left behind here, possibly some straight jackets or restraining beds but it was still well worth a look. The clock tower has to be the highlight for the both of us but the sheer wind up there added to my fear of heights slightly - though shimmy was brave enough to venture right to the top, up to the actual clock face!
I've seen reports on this place before so I won't reiterate the history, but if you want to take a look then here's a good source: CountyAsylums.com is for sale | HugeDomains
The fence around this place is pretty high, and evidently parts of the building have been demolished
I think these tunnels were used to take cables from one end of the building to another. Completely dark and a bit scary.
Two projectors left in a tiny room! Was a bit of a surprise to find these.
Panorama stitch that went a bit wrong
This was the first level of the clock tower, lots of people have written their names and the year they were there on the pigeon box.
If this was legit then that would put it at 101 years old...call me skeptical
Thanks for taking a look
