Lunesdale East is a previously used 6.6 Ha triangular site about 500m west of Lancaster city centre, bounded and physically constrained by the river Lune, the bridge and embankment carrying the West Coast Main Line and the embankment of the former Lancaster-Glasson railway line. The site has a long history of industrial use and there have been a number of contaminative uses on the site including the town gasworks. The site currently includes part of the Carlisle Railway Bridge, the remains of a gasometer, a large four storey mill building, a disused railway embankment and a number of industrial buildings. The entire site is now disused or derelict.
Initally it was the large mill building that had caught my attention, but due to it being actively pikied I've only once managed to spend any length of time in there. I've made a number of quick exits though...
Luckily this time I was in for a treat, the pikies had opened a building I'd walked past a dozen times and not looked at twice.
A couple of phone calls later and we were off!
