The Explore
What a lovely explore this one is; and a great entry back into urbex after a lengthily lockdown (with exception to the Royal Orthopaedic in Harrow in April, Report to come). A huge heads up to @Dragon_Urbex for all the planning and legwork that went into this awesome urbex weekend we just had. 4/4 successful explores, 100% success rate, UNHEARD of these days in urbex, even with a long list of back up sites, so that was wonderful!
I had been waiting to do this one for about 6 months or so; we failed it back in October, so it was nice to get inside, and on such a lovely, sunny Saturday! We spent a good few hours inside. It's currently boasting a nice level of decay as its been closed for one year and the peely paint is just beginning to come through!

St Martin's Hospital; a small Mental Hospital constructed in the late 19th century and opened in 1902 as an overflow hospital to nearby St Augustine's in Chartham. St Martin's began life as "Stone House Hospital", but following the site's acquisition by the NHS, it was renamed several times until it became what we know as "St Martin's". The name comes after the nearby Church of St Martin.
The site is built in the "Compact Arrow Plan" and was designed by a B.S. Jacobs. The hospital comprised of four ward blocks arranged around a central recreation hall, kitchens, laundry and admin block, but the admin block was either destroyed by enemy action or demolished during the war.
