St Stanislaus College

Tullabeg House formerly known as St. Stanislaus Collage is situated in the area of Rahan and stands near an early Christian monastic site dating from the sixth century. Just a hundred and fifty years ago, the Jesuits settled at Rahan and formed a boarding school, the house later was used as a retreat and finally a nursing home. The Jesuit history came to an end at Tullybeg in 1990. There is some extensive history available on this website:

One of the locations we visited in our Summer trip to Ireland. It was fairly straight-forward with the property wide open and fairly vandalised, despite it's rural location and misleading front. We spent a good few hours inside, taking in the impressive architecture combined with extensive natural decay. The chapel was a little bonus at the end, too. Visited with @DustySensorPhotography , @jtza and @huyt.urb .

There wasn't much to see on the ground floor, plus it was fairly dark. We soon headed up the collapsing staircase into the colourful second level.

Loved this vibrant corridor with the ivy covering the windows.

Some of the rooms leading off from the colourful hallway were probably the private bedrooms during the building's period as a manor.

Top floor. Not much lay up here, besides evidence of collapses.

A dangerous area of deterioration led us to leaving the building in order to find an alternative access for the chapel. Luckily, we soon found an entry point and checked it out.

You've caught that main staircase beautifully. The whole shot catching the door and bottom window is a great angle. The whole place is you can see the beauty it once was. The decay & peel here is very photogenic:thumb
