Stand Athletic FC
Explore number one on my trip down to the Rawtenstall and Rossendale area. The first site I intended to visit (Ewood Bridge & Edenfield Station) was surrounded by an army of orange workers so I turned my sights to the nearby derelict football club. Fairly trashed, the local youth have clearly had a fair bit of fun in here over the years...
The pitch was originally home to Haslingden FC. In 2001 Stand Athletic FC moved to the ground and took over the pitch and adjacent clubhouse - after 12 matches of the 2002–03 season, they moved back to Whitefield. The ground was abandoned in 2004 and the club disbanded in 2009.

There's an extremely good view of the passing trains from the top floor of the clubhouse, although the boys in orange did ruin it a bit I'll be back for the station another day, & then I'll have all the ELR ghost stations ticked off the list!
