History
This was something close to me that i finally managed to find, hidden under the changing sands of the beach is the star of shipwreck a German Bargue Wrecked during a storm in 1883, For her age she is in fine condition with many notable features of her left and you can easily tell which is bow and stern etc, she was traveling into Liverpool bay with cottton from North carolina, USA and got stranded in gale 10 force winds. Her crew of 9 let of a distress flare which was noticed by the Crosby light ship, Who then proceeded to rescue all 9 of them.
For full history of her and additional earlier photos visit: http://www.martyngriff.co.uk/page02.htm
Getting to the ship
the ship is quite a distant walk away from ainsdale beach car park but not to far, its around a mile and abit away and boots are required if you want to get close and not to get soggy feet, its quite the sight in real life since it just looks so out of place. anyway onto the pics!
thanks for viewing!
