This has been one of my favourite explores it was lovely to find something new although the last part has been posted before on here , following on from my post thrill of it all the culvert starts again on dale street across from wooltex uk . Access was dead easy and it was a hot sunny day, jumping over the wall early sunday morning i snapped a pic looking downstream in to the concrete box culvert then proceeded upstream in to the start
change now from brick to stone arch
getting rocky underfoot no doubt the original river bed
low girder to bob under then it opened up in to a large room
looking back to start then looking forward
tad deep the water here moving on upstream
change in styles to spraycrete concrete very smooth going underfoot as well
went on quite a way this culvert
opened up in size here had not been expecting anything so large this far upstream
looking back downstream having gone through the corrugated metal pipe
more spraycrete gave the culvert a cave like feel
exit up the waterfall
a short walk in the open led us around to the start of section 2
kept on the ledge to the left as the water was deeper than it looks in the pic
once inside the water became shallow
change to stone wall sides and very rocky again underfoot
dry stone arched roof
around the corner and i ended up in what looked like a plastered room ! lol plastic corrugated pipe ahead
looking downstream this was more steep than the photos suggest
light at the end of the tunnel good job as i would have turned back around if not the RCP here was only 900mm wide !
bit of a squeeze out here in to the fresh air ! once outside it was only a short walk up the river to the start of section 3 as mentioned before this has been posted before
the start of the last section this was just before the junction of stoney lane and grove street
quite a few branches off but was to knackered to investigate them staying with the main flow there was another change in construction styles
about here my headtorch batteries died luckily i always carry spares getting a bit stoopy now and very rocky
blockage here was tricky to get past the water was deep and a shower above meant i needed all my dexterity to keep dry ! The sound of crashing water was getting louder and louder
the drop shaft overflow from the mill pond above went up the waterfall but my picture from inside the drop shaft diddnt turn out it was about 3m tall and you could see daylight at the top
the millpond overflow as seen from above , enjoyed this one possibly my favourite would recommend it well thats the last of my reposts thanks for viewing
