Report - Surrey Hills Hotel, Capel - December 2018

[Syntax]

Well, we somehow stumbled across this site without intention and it turned out to be quite a nice explore.

The hotel is geared up to cater for smaller functions and weddings and has small and dated bedrooms. The place is covered in stickers from a local auctioneer who is clearly attempting to sell the remaining furniture.

It closed about 2 months ago. I get the feeling that it wasn’t very popular in its final days.

Gotta love a fresh explore lol! Nice one for getting it done though, always good to see new stuff pop up in the area, I used to live just up the road in Dorking.

Just discovered their website looking like a time capsule from the 70's, the celebrity comments video was enough to tempt me alone

Went past last week, a 'demolition van' was in the driveway and two high vis's were inside, and came through the front door as we walked past. Presuming they were just surveying the property for the next stage.

Yea i saw them as well im told they are reclaiming a lot of the stuff in there probably stripping ornate lights and stuff room fittings the place had stag dressers through out i wonder where they went in the final years the owner knew the place would go eventually he applied to demo it in 2016 but locals got it refused. In the end he sold the land for 8 mill approved for demo if hed had it privately demoed he would have got more the land is worth more without his hotel on it they factor in 200.000 for total demo costs inc plant hire and labour

Just looked this one up to find out where it was. Seems on google the restaurant is still open there ? Has anyone been there recently?

If it’s streetview then it’s an outdated image, if it’s just saying it’s still open when you search then it just needs updating. It has permanently closed. Set for demolition soon and has been stripped out. I haven’t been but @Grom went recently.
