My first report....go easy
Sutton Bassett ROC post was opened in November 1959 and closed in September 1991, it is situated at the top of a hill with incredible views across Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. SubBrit has this as Northamptonshire but I reckon its just in Leicestershire.
In the same compound is an Aicraft Observation Post which although badly damaged and decayed, still features the double bunk beds and on this visit there were was what looked like the original Elsan Chemical Toilet from the ROC post dumped in the corner.
Nearly all of the external features are intact and there is still plenty of evidence of the original light green paint, particularly around the sump pipe and there is what looks like an external telecoms pipe (?) just across from the FSM Tube that I've not seen before. There is a newer style Torlift hatch on the post which according to research was replaced in 1989, not long before the post closed. As it is summer everything was very overgrown so I'm not sure if the original hatch is still laying around like it was reported to be a few months ago.
Despite having lots of other underground bunker exploring kit with me in an 'epic newbie fail' moment I hadn't got a Torlift Key to pop the hatch so I hope the exterior photo's make up for the lack of interior pix
Seeing as this is my first report maybe you guys will let me off for that !!!
