Originally known as Coke Street Mill (and later Rowditch Mill) it was originally constructed in 1898 for J Bonas and Son for the purpose of manufacturing tape. J Bonas and Son also had similar works in the California area of Derby at Lynton Street and Peet Street. The building burned down in 1917 and was rebuilt in the same style albeit with a different style of roof.
In the early 90's the building changed hands and was used by Rykneld Tean until 2003 when it was used as a furniture storage site by Derby Furniture Project. The mill has now been empty for approximately 13 years.
Completely empty and fairly smashed, but I love this kind of local industrial history.
Streetside view
Lift
Three floors worth of windows
Plenty of (pretty flaked) graff. Piece by Mrpunch747 has seen better days. Second piece by Tekonta has fared better.
The old boiler
Electrical cabinet with a bit of old work by Vez
Not much in the way of original equipment left
And finally a quick climb up on to the roof
And that's it
