This was on the list for my 3rd solo Italian trip. I had driven through some pretty fierce thunderstorms on the way and when I arrived I found that the access was still easy-peasy as I'd been told a little while before. When it's virtually a walk in it did make me a little uneasy that there could be person/s inside that may not have been entirely welcoming, however I did have the place to myself.
The theatre was opened in 1861 and seems to have had quite an illustrious past but sadly in 2012 an earthquake struck and due to the considerable damage it had to close. It has stood unused since, years have gone by without any meaningful restoration and meanwhile the memories of the good times fade, the opulent decor and the seating gathers dust.
