Spotted on our way to another nearby location. Had no idea this even existed, so it was a nice little bonus.
The 2.3 acre site has sat vacant since July 2017. For many years it was used by a company called Technograv who manufactured cylinders for the printing industry. The cylinders were used to print images on to a variety of materials including food and drinks packaging, wallpaper, greetings cards and wrapping paper. The next company to occupy the site for the last handful of years were called AF Reprographics.
Planning permission is now underway to demolish the factory for new homes and in fact the construction at the neighbouring site is well underway.
The power still seemed to be on (for some of the site at least) and we had a big scare when the sensor pinged the automatic doors open...
The main workshop contained a huge machine, which appeared to be some kind of chrome plating mechanism
Euro 2016
A few other bits from around the workshop
All the fobs next to the clocking-in machine
Some finished product still lying around
The offices were maze-like, featureless and in some places quite heavily fire and smoke damaged but there were still a few bits of interest
Dead cuckoo?
One of my favourites when I was a lad at art college
Some samples and awful product art
Derbaaaaay
It was at this point we bailed due to a potential monitoring from a curtain twitching neighbour, but definitely an enjoyable, spontaneous explore.
The one crappy external I took whilst fleeing.
And that's it!
