This was a random explore by chance at night. Planned to go back in the daylight to photograph with decent light but then lockdown 2 happened and didn't get chance so apologies for the photo's as my night time photography isn't the best. Don't think there's been any other reports on it.

History - The Beacon at Dalton was originally called the Beacon Inn built around the 1870's. It was converted to a sports bar and restaurant around 2014. The restaurant closed in 2017.

Explore - We've driven past this place hundreds of times but this was a chance explore as we noticed potential access on the way past one night. Although this place is over 150 years old it seems to have been stripped of all of it's original character so the explore wasn't the most interesting. The surprising thing about this explore was the sheer volume of the previous occupants possessions left behind. We didn't photograph a lot of it due to it's personal nature (photographs and names of their kids, Personal information on documents etc.). There was even a laundry basket with the washing still sat in it.

Due to this being sat on a busy national speed limit road with no opposite pavement getting a decent exterior shot was difficult.

Only took the last owners 2 years to turn it from a successful business to it laying derelict.
It was sold via auction in April 2020.

Yep. Shame really, it would have been a nice pub at one time. It always makes me sad when all the original features are stripped out of an old building. We had no idea what we'd find in this place until we got in.

I just dont understand ripping out original features. This place would be much more welcoming with some features in place. What a shame.

Spent many days in here (and the prince William) as a kid, my mum was born in the houses that were originally on the car park.

I never realised there used to be houses on the car park. It's a shame both these pubs are now just left to rot.
