The Brewers is one of those places that you have been to when active then ended up exploring. Nothing special there really, I just fancied a look round after I bumped in to a demo man in the petrol station and it reminded me to check it out. The pub replaced earlier pub of the same name which occupied the same site. Originally sporting an ornate green glazed brick frontage, this feature was unfortunately obscured from outside view when a single-storey extension was added to the building some decades ago.
The pub traded until late 2016, by which time trade had fallen off considerably – with most customers tending to visit the pub only when Portsmouth FC were playing home matches at nearby Fratton Park. The house was deemed surplus to requirements by Fuller’s and became subject of a planning application in 2017 to demolish the site and replace the pub with flats.
I remember this machine. It was the first time I’d ever paid attention to prices. £9 for B&H! 2007 I think that was.
Care for an orange juice? Or maybe a smackheads redbull?
Now who on earth did this??!!
