The Crescent Pub Salford Urban Explore The Crescent was formally a hotel known as “The Red Dragon Hotel” which opened 1971 and closed late 70’s early 80’s.The Crescent opened in 1986 and closed in 2017 and was the pub where Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels are believed to have drunk together as they formulated the ideas of communism in the 19th century. “The owners’ idea was to turn it into a Chinese cultural centre, and conference centre for medical students, and possibly student accommodation. The pub was built in the 1860s and has been in the Good Beer Guide for the last 25 years. In 2010, the pub, which was privately owned, was put up for sale for £690,00. The pub was sold in 2016 to Chinese investors for £325,000… The Explore - There are clear signs this was a former hotel all the rooms with fire places and the size of the place,This building is massively deceiving from the outside, the cellar was Absolutley massive and the amount of rooms was crazy and the third floor was a massive surprise, from the outside it looks twice as small. We heard a few strange noises on the explore from other rooms, the glass falling in the bar area! it really freaked us out and a huge brand new bolt falling from one of the rooms above right in front of us had us puzzled ???,we also heard foot steps on the way out above the lounge area…we didn’t hang around after this and left. It was such a shame a once very popular pub for punters and musicians is in such a bad state… Brilliant explore
