Klinger is an Austrian manufacturer for valves and borosilicate gauge glasses. In 1936, they expanded their production facilities to England and opened this factory in Sidcup. The building has been derelict for many years now and a planning application for an IKEA store has been withdrawn so it currently sits in limbo with palisade fencing around the perimiter. The majority of the building is in a serious state of decay and hasn't been helped by 2 fires from earlier in the year.
I've visited this spot twice recently, once with humandart and once with a non-member. It's a fun explore with some great photo opportunities all over the place, every floor is completely different and there are three accessible rooftops. The warehouses on the ground floor of the main building have these shattered roofs which look incredible (I'm waiting for the snow to fall for my next visit), although it's worth noting that the fallen tiles are most likely made from asbestos so it's advisable to take extra care in here (sorry if I sound like a patronising Dad!). The walls are littered with graffiti tags throughout the entire building and you'll find some amazing artwork by world renowned street artists dotted around the place if you look for it. Outside of the main building there are larger warehouses that lay bare in darkness. The upper levels will take you through the fire damaged section of the building and up onto the rooftops which offer amazing views of the complex, at their highest point you can find the old clock tower window. The basement spans much of the entire site, it really stinks down there but makes for an interesting wander in the dark with several items of interest.
There seems to be more danger of bumping into fellow explorers than anything else on this site so it's a very relaxed place to visit, need I say any more?
