This was the second time I went exploring. I'm from Holland and went to Belgium with friends for the weekend. The way there I went exploring with 3 other friends. Then we decided we wanted to go to another location on the way back. So we went to the mine of hasard.
The Explore
With some help of another urbexer we knew on which side to get in. The front of the mine is next to the street, you can see the mine from great distance. We parked our car somewhere in a district. From this point we had to walk a dead end road uphill. We got in the woods and followed the path. At some point it was pretty dangerous, we had to go downhill and if you slipped and slided down you could fall of the edge. Once we were down safely, we saw the way in. We could easily climb through a window of one of the changing rooms. From there we could get in every part of the mine.
At one point we heard a dog barking very loudly. We thought it was security untill we could see we were very close to houses of the district. The dog was just sitting in its backyard and probably heard us.
There are holes at some places, so I recommand that you watch your step. You can get in every tower, just be carefull on the stairs.
The way back was easier. We found a path through the woods which wasn't as steep.
The Mine of Hasard
The mine has four mine shafts. The first well was dug in 1850 to win coal. In 1877 the mine closed for the first time because of an accident, but 30 years later in 1907 the mine reopened to remain in operation untill 1977.
