The Royal Phoenix

Firstly apologies for poor quality of photos, this was an opportunist explore, and very dark in places. Secondly, it was in the same car park as a working pub that was packed that day, so it was a brazen entry, but by dusk too risky for photos upstairs as loads of people sitting on benches in pub car park, right outside. But its one from my back log of years of exploring. This is only the third report Ive posted that the place is now demo`d. I was advised to post old and new, so im doing exactly that.
The Royal Phoenix was a Thai cuisine pub, nicely located in the heart of Sunbury backing onto the river. There was a 4 bedroom flat above the property, a bar, dance floor, and kitchen and cellar. I could not find much re the property, but from documents, it appears it was vacated around 2010. Planning applications were put in for 2011 for 9 flats. Everything was still inside. The fridges had food. The flat had furniture. The bar had glasses left on bar, still with drink in them. From the little I did find, it appeared this pub was around 200 yrs old, and changed hands many times and then became a Thai
restaurant.
I found it strange that glasses, tables, white goods, furniture, disco balls, lights all still inside. It appeared someone had left in a hurry. Though very vandalized, you could tell a lot had been left behind.
Last time I checked this location some demo work had started, not been back since. So an update of site is probably demo`d.
Thanks for peeking CJ
