Built in the late 80's and spanning over 3.5miles this storm drain is a drainage monster made mostly from concrete and RCP.
This was originally built to accommodate the growth of Warrington town and in the event of a 1 in 30 bad storm.
I tried to count the amount of access points but lost count after a while (although a lot are sealed).
We entered at one end of the system and began the long walk passing through the bunker itself, through long concrete chambers and into an open section where as i recall it split off in to 3 or 4 ways.
we explored the system for a few hours but after the open section we met a couple of inclines and from that point onwards it was endless back breaking stooping and a group decision was made to turn back after around 3 hours.
Planning on coming back soon as i would like to find/absail down the plug at the far end.
Definetly one of my favourite drainage explores yet
