Over in Fife to look at something else, and realised I was near this - HMS Jackdaw near Crail is a WW2 airfield, now mostly turned over to small industrial/storage use. But, in a field full of sheep scoffing turnips, is the torpedo trainer.
It's basically a big concrete torus, with the remains of a seascape painted on it - a projecting device used to hang from the ceiling, and the student sat in the middle - it's WW2-era virtual reality, basically.
This is only a mini-report - with more time, I'll go back to see if there's anything else interesting around the airfield - most of it looks pretty trashed, though. Still worth a visit for this, though![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/xenforo/smile.png)
One more shot, just to complete the set...
