So this is a bit of an odd one literally a few minutes walk from where I live and i'd never even noticed it before. From the road (a very seldomly used back road in the middle of the countryside) it looks like just some gurt overgrown hedge. However, one day while passing in my tractor I noticed what appeared to be some old iron railings, curiosity peaked I went back just a few hours later for a closer look. To my surprise, after clearing some bush and brambles I did find what appears to be an antique stone wall and some very old iron railings.

The wall crumbling and the railings rotted, i jogged (who am I kidding, there was no jogging..) up the hill and found some more crumbled wall, just low enough I could clamber over. Once inside, I immediately regretted my decision. I landed in a starfish pose and with a thud onto fallen branches, brambles and stinging nettles up to the eyes. Turns out, what I thought was solid ground was not, It was years of fallen branches and moss, and my feather like weight broke the lot and I fell an extra 3-4 foot.

Composing myself and thankful no one else saw that, I got back up found the largest stick possible and attempted to beat my way through the wall of stinging nettles i'd landed in, I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for, but my gut was telling me something was over there and I shouldn't had missed second breakfast.

A few minutes in, stung everywhere.. I could make out stone, and shapes emerging. I was getting excited..
"what is this place, what was it.. What is that" "what's over there" "ouch that one hurt" "I shouldn't have skipped second breakfast" all the usual thoughts come rushing in as I thrash my way closer and closer. I start following the bits of stone..

I started finding bits of metal on the ground, I knew I was getting closer, but the undergrowth was so thick I just couldn't see anything infront of me. Then I look up and there it is, covered in ivy, intertwined with branches and trees, I could make out windows...

Peering into the ground floor window, I can see this place has been untouched for so long I couldn't even speculate.. There is no roof, only three walls. I can see the remains of a fireplace, a cross beam from what I imagine was an upper floor but that's it.. I'm sure there's more, so I push on..

I battle through more undergrowth, towards what I believe to be the rear of the property. I find a stone wall, with an old door frame and a shoe.. A peek in the door reveals the place is much larger than I originally thought, but there is no floor.. No ground floor no first floor and beyond the door it just drops away into what I can only assume was a basement running the length of the cottage...

And thats it. There was no more... The place is little more than an overgrown rockery now, i've attempted to find some local history on this place, but to no avail, all I can find out is the locals refer to it as the 'Witches Cottage' and no one knows anything else about it. So yeah.. Thanks for looking, sorry to disappoint those who thought this might be a super awesome explore.
