The site was initially established to provide a cross channel TV and telephone link opening in 1959. The original structure was a 200ft mast with 3 SHF dishes facing France.
The current concrete tower dates from the early 1970s and allowed for an increase in the number of dishes. Standing at 221ft high it is one of the few British towers built of reinforced concrete.
Not too many pics as when we arrived at the top, the wind suddenly picked up so was hard to take them. So we just enjoyed the view with a cider and smoke and headed back down.
