Torrington Creamery:
History:

The factory was founded in 1874 by Robert Sandford, the factory was initially built for the purpose of exporting dairy products to towns and cities as far away as London, In 1932 the building was sold to Cow and Gate and expanded significantly due to damages from the war. A few years later it was sold one last time to Dairy Crest who used it up until 1993 when a fire damaged the drying plant facility due to this and other issues the creamery was shut down and hundreds of jobs were lost.
Our Visit:
We pulled up as usual and were instantly amazed at the size of it. In fact just by the size I thought it would be a hard job to access but god was I wrong! The parking was easy and the entry was just as easy, we had loads of fun on this site although we weren’t quite brave enough to climb onto the ladders as god knows what state they’re in! The place was empty which was surprising due to its size and surprisingly easy entry, well I mean the fact it was 9am on a Sunday could also be a factor as to why no one was there aye. Overall it was a mint visit and a brilliant way to start of the Sunday explore!

Any feedback on the photos would be brilliant as I started to use HDR way too much on my last post hoping this one has come out slightly better!

It is a big old place isn't it, I like your first photo with the curved ceiling, think you've really captured it there

I went there today. Really interesting place. There is still a dairy crest Torrington sign outside that used to grace the main entrance. Interesting that nextdoor is a faux arts gallery which hints at Taddiport's history as a Leper colony.
