Visited with my other half (DragonFlame) and my Dad but ended up doing it alone 'cause it looked like I was the only one in the group who had the balls to actually go in and do it. After all this is the semi-derelict area of a very, VERY live site. Put that together with trespassing laws (although BTP are unlikely to care about a rail enthusiast/photographer/explorer when they could be spending time prosecuting kids who steal trollies from their local supermarket and end up putting it on live track in front of an oncoming train), and I spent the half an hour I was there constantly running, ducking and diving in fear of being caught alone or seen by a worker. Or worse still, have a freight train pull in and block myself in.
Yes another member on here has beaten me to the catch of being the first one to urbex this legendary place (as far as anoraks go, which neither the person in question or myself are) but being the second one to successfully do this I'm pretty proud of myself for doing this. Should this be moved to non-public? No. I'm only doing what my Dad and so many other people did 50 or so years ago, only difference is I'm armed with a camera and tripod and getting pics of these locos before they're all scrapped. Now I'm NOT making myself out to be some sort of saviour or whatever, but if you're reading this WNXX, take it or leave it. Face it: only 2 people have actually been in to record these locos, and I'd personally be pretty pissed had I not been in to get these pics of the locos as they are now. Who's gonna give a fuck 50 years later when these iconic locos are scrapped about what offence was commited? Besides, I'm sure the VAST majority of you on that shitty forum did the same here about 20 years ago! I'm keeping the tradition alive, you hypocrites!
Enough ranting, here's what I've got. For those looking for internals, all (bar one which I missed due to time constraints) of the loco's doors are barred up and locked to keep pikeys out as there's a good chance some of these will be reactivated. Indeed, some have I think. Oh and I find wagons and coaches boring so don't expect any here.
Hope you enjoyed. C'est la vie,
TBM
