So before the Bristol meet at the weekend myself and @Landie_Man had some stuff in mind to check out - and it was the usual mix of fail and success and false starts but as always good fun.
There isn't much that I can find out about this place on the net, it used to belong to Interbrew before Tradeteam DHL took over the lease which only expired in 2017 yet it was empty before that!
I had spotted this large warehouse building last year some time when passing through Gloucester and made a note of where it was as it's size was pretty impressive and it looked fairly interesting just from the shape of the frontage. I finally got around to giving it a cursory recce on a blazing hot day at the beginning of this month but couldn't see an obvious way in, but fast forward a few weeks and I found myself stood outside once more getting ready to try again.
All credit to Landie Man he sussed a way in from the street and soon we found ourselves poking around the back. I don't think I've ever seen so many screws in doors before - fresh screws and some fairly fresh looking boards was in some ways a good sign as it must mean people have been getting in/out of it for a while. We eventually found a way in that was pretty much staring us in the face from the moment we got past the palisade fence, and this is where the fun began.
As soon as our feet made contact with the floor the alarms began ringing. They weren't deafening internal alarms but totally audible from inside as more and more went off whilst we moved through stripped office rooms - damn PIRs in nearly every room! We made a beeline for the giant warehouse area which was a good call as mercifully it was a little quieter in there as there weren't any audible alarms that I could see. The choice that faced us was simple, either turn and leave or stay for a bit, run around to get some photos and see if we can get out before security arrive to boot us out. Naturally we chose the second option, and suddenly after maybe fifteen minutes we heard the alarms turn off. This unexpected development brought with it new questions - were they turned off remotely or had someone arrived to reset them? We stayed still for a couple of minutes and decided that we'd pushed our luck enough so made tracks for the exit, and as soon as we stepped foot back into the offices *boom* the alarms start wailing immediately. We get a hurry on and hustle out of there and get back to the street listening to the alarm box mounted on the corner of the building make one hell of a racket. Just as we got back to our car parked on the road that heads down the side of the site up pulled the security van and out stepped a visibly confused and probably slightly annoyed security guard for presumably being called back to the site immediately.
So for anyone reading this who fancies a crack at it, you have about fifteen minutes from the first alarm going off to the security turning up
Excuse the fairly rubbish grainy photos, it was pretty dark in there and I'd never normally shoot like this but time was of the essence as you can imagine! It's not the most interesting location ever but I don't think it's been covered on here yet.
I took the external on my phone upon leaving, the sky was incredible.
Thanks for looking
