Another Turgo turbine, this time in a pretty location in the Wicklow Mountains - for more information about these things see the previous post about one in Wales.
It’s not marked on maps but the route of the water feed pipe (penstock) can just about be made out on satellite view.
Starting at the top we come to a weir diverting water into the penstock.
At the bottom is a hut containing a modern generator and the defunct water turbine.
Like the one in Wales, the spear valve assembly is missing, although this does allow you to see the rotor.
However the centrifugal governor (cylindrical object controlling a crank), which was also missing in the Welsh example, is complete here.
