A lone survivor of the former union workhouse / infirmary along Pleck Road in Walsall

‘Workhouse board of guardians' offices. 1898-1900; by Henry E. Lavender of Walsall, for the
Board of Guardians of Walsall Poor Law Union’

A view of the former workhouse site with the offices in red:

The piles of hospital bedframes and mattresses inside would suggest the building has played a more modern role since its original use as the site has been redeveloped into the Manor Hospital over the years.

There is an old report on here by Rookinella from 2009 and internally nothing appears to have changed in over a decade, minus the fancy balustrade on the staircase being removed and replaced with decidedly unphotogenic scaffolding.

Some crusty bedframes and a conveyor leading to the upper floor. Not sure what it's actual purpose would have been? Answers on a postcard please!

Lovely stuff. Those tiles are beauties. I'd guess that the conveyor was perhaps some sort of laundry related thing?
