Site history (as stolen from MrMoustache) :This location is the Carlisle Upperby TMD (Traction Maintenece Depot). It is operated by the English, Welsh and Scottish railway. It was used in the 50s until the 90s for steam and diesel trains. It was locally known as 'The Lanky' due as reference to the majority of trains using it being used on the Carlisle to Lancaster main line. Currently it stands derelict and unused.
The explore: Having spent the previous day failing to gain access to anywhere, MrMoustache came up with this gem!
The two of us and another non-member spent a good forty minutes trying to work out access to the site, first trying to see from above and then ending up on the wrong side of the river (doh) wondering how the fourteen year old lad had managed to get right where we needed to be! After a bit of a faff we made it, and gaining access was a little bit awkward but not too horrific.
Inside the whole place was very overgrown, and the glass ceiling was coming down, with most of it all over the floor, I was somewhat worried about having a pane of glass come down on me but thankfully I was fine!
I didn't have my D-SLR on me so excuse the somewhat amateur photos!
View up the TMD from the main entrance
Plenty of old signs floating about!

What I assume is either a boiler? Or something to build air pressure?

All the generator equipment had had the wires stripped, but was cool nonetheless

The final view down the TMD from the transformer end

This is also my second report, so I'd appreciate any feedback. I've cut back on the amount of photos (33 was too many admittedly) so any further advice is very much appreciated!
