Ventor is a combined sewer overflow near Rochdale with a stone and brick outfall to the River Roch.

Just a few metres in is a large concrete chamber. Straight ahead is a section of RCP which leads to a processing room.

To the right of the chamber is a rectangular tunnel leading to a ventilated overflow chamber.

The processing room is situated immediately upstream.

Bit of a different setup here from other CSOs in greater manc/the NW, never seen a chamber with vents like that, at first I thought it would lead just to the processor, and a pumping station. Was the brick/stone pipe part of the original sewer system presumably, and the processor and ventor chamber serving as an interceptor? From the outfall, looks as though it overflows quite a bit still....some bog roll is visible and quite a high tide mark in the chamber:turd:eek::(;)

I don't know the history of this CSO but I would assume that the brick outfall would have at one time served an older overflow chamber which has since been replaced by the 2 existing chambers.

Thanks for the reply mate. Yeap, there is scant info by googling this one, so I agree with what you say, the older brick overflow chamber has been replaced by the newer concrete works. There is however plenty of other info about rochdale UID's on another site.
