OK, here goes with the first report - please be gentle!
I wont go into the history of this beautiful old pile as it's on here already. However, I recently got the chance to get 'behind the scenes' on a open day so hastily started snapping on route.
Apologies for the images, I'm not claiming to be a photographer of any skill! And these are phone snaps. Just thought some of you may be interested in how the restoration is coming along.
Anywho, on with the piccies...
a couple of the many restored stained glass windows
controls for the 'water therapy unit'...
random controls for women's pool...
Turkish baths...
Upstairs living quarters...
sun rooms...
Women's pool
The cubicles are smaller & less private than the males 1st class
Men's 1st class pool
Showers in 2nd class pool
1st class male entrance
As a 'Friend' of the baths I get to visit fairly often and will keep you posted on how she's coming along. The Turkish baths are pretty much complete and looking beautiful, and I have to say the atmosphere in there now is very calming, I can spend hours wandering about down there! Lots of different ideas going round for how the pools can be put back into use, but nothing concrete yet.
Comments are welcome, like I say, apologies for the crappy photos!
