Not the often reported Redmires Waterworks that's been derelict forever, but another newer (and slightly bigger) one very close by. The nature of these things makes it hard to work out when they stopped being functional, but there is actually one report up on this already from 2011. It's likely that this water treatment plant replaced the older one that closed around 1997, and was itself superseded in around 2010 - but don't quote me on that.
Some info on Redmires here: https://www.yorkshirewater.com/things-to-do/redmires-reservoir/
'Redmires Reservoirs are a series of three reservoirs less than 10 miles away from the centre of Sheffield. Despite their proximity to a large city, the reservoirs are situated in stunning open moorland. The surrounding landscape to the south is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, designated for the variety of birds, reptiles and mammals which the landscape supports. The path around the south of the reservoir can be muddy in places but there are various benches along the roadside for you to sit and marvel at the landscape.'
(Tourism note: It's really nice round here, and worth having a wander up the plughole if you're after a beginners draining experience. ;-) You can also walk / run up to stangage edge from here, which has some nice views).
Visited on my own, pictures are colour and black and white film. Enjoyed this place - it's a bit like a kids indoor play centre, but for grownups.
Not a massive place and lots has been stripped away, but still a fair bit to see.
