Had a little trip out towards Crewe today to have a look at the prisoner of war camp at Weston, here. Although there isn't a great deal left aside from the buildings themselves it made for an interesting mooch for an hour or so. Doesn't seem to be much on the internet about the history of the place, so I can't tell you anything about it.
If you plan to visit the place anytime do it sooner rather than later. I got talking to the farmer on my way out who told me it will be demolished 'within the next few months, to build a road'. He's quite happy to let you park in the yard, just let him know you're having a look. I only say this 'cos farmers/shotguns and trespassers can be a dodgy combination (besides, he has four very noisy (and friendly)dogs who'll spot you a mile away)!!
Here's the pix.
