Westwoods, a large Bath stone quarry situated 6 miles South East of Bath. Parts of the quarry were used to store British art during WW2 and as an underground Royal Enfield factory. Part of the site is still used today by Wansdyke Security for secure storage space, and Hansons have quarried part of the site in recent years.
Visited with Tommo, Spungletrumpet, Urban Junkie, Urbansurgeon, Petzl and imogen.
This was spot on, probably my favourite bath stone mine i've explored yet. I was shocked at the size of the place and how tidy it was in places!
Chains holding the cracked pillars together
The old ventilation system intact...
And not so intact...
Tidy
More Ventilation and some killer mud
Lots of old graffiti with names for the different haulageways
