The Titanic has sank! Ha! Yes, it's Whittingham again folks. Having been meaning to do the site for ageees and seeing recent pictures of the site slowly moving beyond the stage of decay and into the realms of f**ked we decided it finally time to pay a visit. The place as you will see is losing most of it's character as an asylum and frankly looks a mess. The roofs and ceilings are few and far between. The floors, term used loosely, are little more than pipes and joists for a trapeze act with a tripod. Well worth the explore though, recording a slice of history and granting the place maybe it's final decorum, as I can't see it having many more visitors given a few more seasons. It is well gone. It's worth comparing these shots to some of the sets done in previous years.
Think we all know the history so I'm not going to paste Wiki onto here but here's the links should you wish a quick recap..

"Asylum" Whittingham Hospital
I was in full battle dress for this explore so the following photos are a mix of wide, zoom, prime, HDR, long exposure. The HDR I use in full sense of the term, High Dynamic Range in giving the photo an even composition for varied and multiple light sources. Not the HDR!!!! exaggerated shitpiles, you know what I mean, they're not kewl. I've tried not to butcher the shit out of the image so it is a representation of the actual place. Never understood the extreme editing after you've done the hard part of getting in. Any road, I'm being a photo nazi now so I hope you enjoy. Full set over 35 pictures and updates at.. Whittingham Asylum - a set on Flickr
Cheers Guys.
