This factory was once the home of Wildt Mellor Bromley, who were founded in 1884. They were one of the largest manufacturers of knitting machines in the world. Like most of Leicesters large manufacturing industries, times got hard in the 1970s with cheap imports coming in from abroad. The upper floors are partly converted into flats, but have since been left to decay. The main entrance is still impressive however, with its dome, columns and art deco light fitting. Apologies for the quality of the pics, only had the phone camera on me!
