Another little nugget from the back catalogue. This is the only time I've explored somewhere in Oldham and not run into a gaggle of drunk 14 year olds or had a building set on fire whilst we were in the site. After a brief nose from the roads outside we saw the access staring us quite literally in the face after a couple of minutes and couldn't quite believe how simple, but bait, it was! I actually really liked it here, it was a nice oldschool piece of industry of the sort I love to photograph and the offices were rammed full of old tat and paperwork to look through.
The above snippet was taken from their website, which may have now been canned. The company vacated the premises in 2013 (although parts of it looked as if they had been empty for decades) after going into liquidation, which the owners blamed on the new Metrolink tramline cutting off their premises from customers. I've got no idea if the place is still standing or not, it might be but you never know.
As was the norm at the time I totally neglected to get any sort of external photos!
My favourite little detail was the hospital toe tag being used as a label!
Thanks for looking
Williamsons have been trading from the same premises in Mumps Bridge Oldham since 1920. This private family business is still run by members of the Williamson family. The business has grown considerably since the outset and now covers over two acres of warehouse space. Since 1969 we have become a major supplier of Fire Fighting and Rescue Equipment much of this equipment is to Home Office Specification and is available in both new and refurbished condition. Since 1975 we have also been suppliers of all variant types of new and refurbished conveyor systems. We hold considerable stocks of equipment, and manufacture bespoke items to customers specification
