the history is well documented so i’ll keep it brief: opened in 1959. after the A & B stations closed in 1995/1999, they were demolished, whilst the concrete cooling towers were left up as demo was too expensive. This left a rare post-industrial landmark on the Derby skyline.
I went on a weekday, no security or other people in sight. I’ve heard rumours of there being hemlocke growing, but I didn’t spot any, so it cant be a major issue.
graffiti was a little faded, clearly not been touched in a while. Just had a mooch around and listened to music tbh. I was on my own + this is my first proper explore so I steered clear of the areas closest to the road, but I’ll probably investigate next time.
all in all it’s a beautiful place with little security or risk. I’d recommend it to anyone who hasnt been yet
and don’t mind my amateur photography xD
