Hey everyone. I had a little trip around the coast and visited Winterton ROC to get some nice pictures as it was a warm sunny day. I have visited the site before when the hatch was missing and the post was filled to the top with sand but now someone has put a concrete seal to stop entry.
The post was built in October 1963 and closed in October 1968 and there is a lot of damage to the surface features.
Above: The ROC Post seen from the dunes nearby.
Above: This post had a perimeter fence all the way around.
Above: Part of the perimeter fence and the main entrance behind.
Above: All that remains of the Orlit.
Above: The Orlit and the post behind.
Above: There were signs of a brick structure just to the north east (about 50yards) which is believed to be from WW2 although I cannot work out what it was.
Above: The new concrete top to the main entrance.
Above: There were also signs of another structure of some kind to the south. I think this is where the Orlit used to be before someone moved the remaining walls.
That's all folks! Real shame you cant get in it but I'm going to see if any other local ones are open. I love a good ROC Post!
