While out for a walk to day with my son i noticed the front door was open, so i popped in my head armed with an olympus point and shoot and asked f i could take a few quick photos. The guy was great and said yes but i only got 5 minutes. He told me it was going to be converted into a gym,dance studio and private accommodation upstairs.
The building was sold last year at auction and raised just over £80k for the local council. There was a few petitions to stop the closure but all was to avail. Another 2 swimming pools was closed at the same time to save the council £1.5m, one at athersley and one in penistone.
The small pool has had a false floor fitted over the top and the large pool will be used to house gym equipment
