The first woollen mill in the area was built by John Fulford in 1750. In 1845 the mill that still stands today (or did when I visited) was built by Gilbert Vicary. This mill was the last working mill in Devon and closed in 1930.
There has been plans to build where the mill is but when I visited in June 2020 there was some but not much sign of building work - I’m not sure about it now. There was a fire at the end of 2020 and I don’t know how much of the buildings were damaged but I’m guessing there probably isn’t too much to see now.
Lots of the floors were rotten and it seems like a lot of the stuff inside had been removed. There was one building that I couldn’t get into. Still a good explore as the buildings were pretty big and knowing they date back so far always makes explores more exciting and interesting.
