Hi, my first post - please be gentle.
In Spring I went to ATE Swynenrton, Coldmeece, Staffordshire, in June 2007
It was during the War a Filling Station for the Royal Ordnance Factory, having around 20.000 people at it's height of production.
see: Swynnerton Royal Ordnance Filling Factory – Subterranea Britannica for further details.
There are around 6 Magazines in the camp, No. 3 Magazine was refurbished in 1962 as a Civil Defence Group Control and refitted agan in 1988 as RGHQ 9.1. Also there is a magazine converted into accommodation.
Enterance to a sealed RGHQ
30M outdoor range - you shoot onto the CQBT building - scary!!
Accommodation Magazine
Out in the Training Area
Busty Betty Cafe
One of the Workshops
UN compound
Gate & Coke Machine
Please note ATE Swynnerton is Active, I'll try get into buildings next time i'm there.
